The 2024 US Open, set to take place from August 26 to September 8, promises to be an exciting tournament filled with high-stakes matches and potential surprises. This year’s event will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

Boasting an impressive 33 courts – including the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium – the world-class facility has been home to the US Open every year since 1978 and is located in the heart of New York City.

This year’s tournament will see the qualifying stages get underway between 19-22 August, with main draw action commencing on the 26 August through to the 8 September when the tournament will conclude with the men’s final.

Men’s Singles Preview

Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner are the top contenders for the title this year. Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz are also set to compete.

Djokovic is looking to end 2024 on a high note after coming off a successful run to the finals at Wimbledon and avenging his loss against Alcaraz with a gold medal in Paris to complete his career Golden Slam.

Sinner is looking to equal Alcaraz’s number of Grand Slam titles in 2024 and secure one more on the year. He started the year by securing his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January. He then followed his Melbourne success with final victories in Rotterdam, Miami, and Halle.

After his triumph in Ohio on Monday, Sinner turns his attention to the US Open – the final Grand Slam of the year.

In a recent announcement on social media, four-time champion Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the US Open, stating that he thinks he would not be able to give 100%. He plans for his next event to be Laver Cup in Berlin, Germany later this year.

Women’s Singles Preview

In the women’s game, world No 1 Iga Swiatek will be looking to go one better than Alcaraz and secure a sixth slam success, and second in New York.

She heads the women’s field, though defending champion Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will all be in the shake up too.British No. 2 Emma Raducanu is entered into the main draw, while two-time winner Naomi Osaka has got a wild card.

In doubles, American Rajeev Ram and Brit Joe Salisbury are the current defending champions. They are looking to grab a fourth straight title at the US Open. The most US Open wins in men’s doubles in the Open Era is held by Mike Bryan at six. 2024 Miami Open finalists Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe are the defending champions on the women’s doubles side. It would be Dabrowski’s fourth major title and Routliffe’s second if they were to successfully defend their title.
